Hotel of the week

Review
In a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, this early Victorian house stands above the River Avon in unspoilt woodland, rich in wildlife. It offers accommodation ranging from 'rustic to more salubrious', say the 'charming' owners Jane Bowman, Gillian Kean and Anabel Farnell-Watson. It is 'wonderfully friendly' (guests on their own feel at ease). It won't suit everyone, but devotees love the 'spiritual quality', the 'informal but professional' hospitality, the 'very good' meals, the 'comfort without frills'. 'Slow food' is the theme in the dining room: chef Christopher Scantlebury might offer local quail wrapped in bacon, roasted with a redcurrant jus. The house is filled with simple furniture, antiques and paintings; log fires burn in the public rooms. The bedrooms on the first floor have en suite facilities and central heating, the second-floor rooms were due to be upgraded in 2008. The best bedroom is spacious, but some rooms are small. Cultural courses, concerts and weekends with entertainments (painting, story-telling, etc) are held. Weddings take place in a former chapel, now a studio and gallery. Children are welcomed. A non-refundable deposit of the cost of a night's stay is requested on booking. The sea is six miles away. (SR, and others)
This hotel accepts discount vouchers which entitle readers to a 25% discount off their normal B&B rate. Each printed copy of the Guide contains six vouchers worth in total about £150

Lebanon hotels

Guide to Good Hotels in Lebanon and throughout the World
We have looked at a number of the existing systems for getting information on the Internet on hotels, and fond them lacking. The main problem has been that it is unusually difficult to see where on earth the hotel is in the country in question, and after that it is difficult to get a link to the hotels own web site to get more information
We have therefore carefully research the whole hotel market and are building a worldwide guide to hotels, in a format that is actually useful to the user. They can then contact the hotel directly and make a booking themselve
